With the rapid spread of both news and COVID-19 (Coronaviris), we want to let you know what we are doing to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus to you, our staff, and the general community:
Over the weeks, our wonderful team has been, and will continue to disinfect their hands and all surfaces of human contact in the hospital regularly throughout the day.
All employees are instructed to not come to work if they develop fever or respiratory symptoms or have known contact with others with those symptoms.
These include Rabies vaccination appointments and sick animal appointments. If you are unsure if your pets needs are considered essential, please give us a call!
Please call ahead! When you arrive for a scheduled visit or need to pick up food or medications, we will ask you to call us from your vehicle and we will provide curbside service and come out to you and your pet. CATS MUST BE IN CARRIERS! We will collect credit card number and process payment over the phone.
Some Prescription refills may be restricted to a 1 month supply as certain medications can become difficult to obtain when there are human disease outbreaks. Please allow extra time and plan ahead for your pets medication refills as they may take extra time for us to obtain or prepare. Options for obtaining medications will be:
- Parking lot pick up
- Mail delivery
- Spring Green Animal Hospital Online Store
If you stop in without calling, you may be asked to wait outside while we prepare your pets medications.
To limit human to human exposure, we have decided to temporarily postpone all non-essential appointments such as annual wellness exams, vaccinations and basic teeth cleanings. We will continue to see any patients with medical problems and perform procedures and surgery as medically required. Puppies and kittens will also be seen to give or complete their vaccination series.
Other non-essential services
We will be postponing any other non-essential services such as Dog Daycare, Grooming and Nail Trims.
Although human travel is discouraged at this time, we realize that there may be a need to board pets and we will continue to provide this service. We will also provide outdoor curbside check-in for this service and apply a safe antiviral disinfectant spray to your pets coat at admission.
Routine Screening for Chronic Conditions
If your pet has a chronic condition that requires routine screening tests, and is doing very well, we may postpone those visits for 1 to 2 months.
Prescription Foods, Flea / Tick and Heartworm Prevention
We will continue to provide important products such as Prescription foods, Tick/flea or Heartworm Preventatives, but again to lower traffic and direct contact with others, we may make arrangements to either, bring prepaid products out to you in the parking lot or mail them directly to your home.
COVID-19 and Your Pet
If you have been wondering, it is the Veterinary community consensus that our pets do not get infected by the Coronavirus, but that the virus could possibly survive for brief periods on their coats as on any other surface. If an infected human pets a dog or cat, that pet could possibly then become a mode of transmission to other humans. If you do become sick, in addition to all the other recommendations made by the medical community, it may be prudent to minimize your pet "snuggle time" for a couple weeks.
As the country works through dealing with this challenge, we appreciate your understanding if we have to postpone or reschedule your pet's visit or procedure. Please remember to take care of yourself, your family and friends, and the human community around you. We will continue to do our best to provide your pets with the care they need.
